Airmen Selection Process 2020-

Before knowing what is the selection process of Airforce X, Y group in 2020, and what is the eligibility criteria and age limit the candidates should know in detail about Airforce and about X, Y group.
Air Force is a branch of the Air Army that takes care of our air warfare. X and Y groups in the Indian Air force are one of the prestigious examinations in India. Qualifying this examination is one of the biggest achievements ever. The Notification has been released for requirements for the X, Y groups in Indian Air force. The online date of examination is 19 March to 23 March 2020.

Air force Airmen Eligibility Criteria:

There are certain criteria set for the Air force x, y group which is generally known as Air force x, y group Eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for Air force X Y group is explained below by The Best Defense Institute in Lucknow –

Age limit
The first criteria is of Age Limit. The Candidate must be born between the dates 17 January 2000 to 30 December 2003 including both the dates. In case if a candidate clears all the stages then he or she must be of 21 years, as upper age.

Educational Qualification- For Group X

The candidates must pass their 10+2 from a recognized board or any Equivalent examination with subjects as English, Mathematics, and Physics.
The candidates should have scored 50% marks in their 10+2 or in that equivalent examination from where they are passed out. They can also do a Diploma in any engineering course like Polytechnic but must have scored 50% with subjects as mentioned above. The candidates also should have scored 50% marks in English. Diploma course holders are only eligible for the X group.

For group Y ( Medical Assistant Trade )

The candidates should pass their 10+2 with minimum marks of 50% with the subjects as Physics, Chemistry and Biology mainly and also with English, and also should have scored in English at least 50% of marks.
For group Y( except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF (S), and Musicians)
The candidates again should pass their 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream or with any subjects approved by the central education board or from State Educational board, with minimum 50% marks obtained in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Physical and Medical criteria for Airforce X, Y group-

To get selected as an Airman the candidate must be physically and mentally fit to perform duties in any part of the world, Climate, and terrain. In the eligibility criteria, there are Physical and Medical norms that are set to Qualify the paper. They are given below as follow-

Weight

Hearing

The hearing ability should be very sharp of the candidates by each ear. They could hear forced whisper from at least a distance of 6 meters by each ear.

Chest

The minimum range of expansion is 5 cm.

Tattoos

The candidates who have permanent body tattoos are not eligible for the Examination however tattoos only on the inner face of the forearms, back part of the hand/ reverse side of the palm and Tribals with tattoos which are as per customs Traditions of their tribes may be considered. Candidates who have permanent tattoos have to submit their two photographs ( close up and distinct view) with details of size and type of Tattoo.

Dental

The candidates should have healthy gums and a minimum of 14 points.

Eyesight

The candidates who are appearing for the X group should have the eyesight of 6/6 of each eye, and the candidates for education instructors the eyesight can be 6/9 of each eye.

Height

The minimum height which is acceptable in Airforce for X, Y group is 152.5 cm. But there is some relaxation given to the candidates who belong from NE and Hilly States.

The selection process of X, Y group/Airmen Selection Process 2020-
The selection process of Airforce for X, Y group/Airmen Selection Process 2020 is held on three stages. The eligible candidates can apply for the exam. They are given below as follow –
  • Stage 1 – Online test or Written test.
  • Stage 2- Physical Fitness Test ( PFT ), Situation Reaction Test ( SRT ), Group – Discussion ( GD ).
  • Stage 3 – Medical Exam.

Stage -1

Online test- The very first stage which the candidates have to clear is an online test.
For the X group – Total no. Of Questions is 70. The candidates have to give the Examination in 60 minutes.

For Y group- The total no. Of questions is 50. The candidates have to give the paper in 45 minutes.


Stage – 2

i) – Physical Fitness Test ( PFT ) – For this stage, the candidates first have to clear the first stage. In this stage there are various types of physical norms are tested to check the inner strength of the candidates which are given below as follow –
  • Race – The candidates have to clear a race of 6 minutes and 30 seconds
  • Then the candidates have to do 20 Squats.
  • After squats the have to do 10 push-ups.
And after the push-ups, the candidates have to do 10 sit-ups.
These are some norms of the Physical Fitness Test.

ii) – Situation Reaction Test ( SRT ) – In this round, the candidates are tested about their practical knowledge. They are given a Situation and they asked how they will react. This is Conducted just after the PFT. It is one of the most important tests because your practical knowledge and mental ability will be tested.

iii) – Group Discussion ( GD )- In this round, the candidates made to sit in a room and will be given a topic on which the candidates have to do the Group Discussion with other candidates. There will only 10-15 candidates at a time in the room. This is again one of the important tests conducted in the whole examination, because in this test also the candidates are checked about their Mental strength, thoughts and the most important behavior with the other candidates.

Stage -3

( Medical Exam ):- The last stage is of medical tests in which the candidates will be checked up medically to know whether they are Medically fit or not. The norms for the medical test is already given above in the Physical and Medical Standards in Airforce for x, y group.
