What is NDA?

NDA exam is conducted by the Union public service Commission (UPSC). Recruitment of candidates to Army, Navy and Air force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA), is through National Defence Academy entrance exam which is held twice a year, generally in the month of April and September. A candidate must be an unmarried male. The candidates Joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 years B. The eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and physical standard. As per NDA eligibility criteria 2019, candidates must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years of age. Candidates having appeared or appearing in class 12 (10+2) examination. For Army Wing of NDA: Candidates should have qualified 10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognized board. For Air Force & Naval of NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with physics and mathematics subjects.

What is CDS?

The Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

According to CDS eligibility criteria, candidates applying for the exam must be 20 to 24 years. Candidates who have passed graduation or appearing for their final year are eligible to apply for CDS 2019 exam provided they submit a relevant certificate of passing the examination at the time of commencement of course.
