The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air force for the selection of Class-1 Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical). The exam is organized twice a year, in February and August/September of every year.

Stages Of The Examination:

Stage 1:

It includes sending call letters to the candidates to appear in the Written Examination.

Subjects: Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Awareness, and Military Aptitude.

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions

Time Allotted: 2 hours

Number of Questions: 100

Maximum Marks: 300

Written Examination has a negative marking of One-Third mark in all the sections.

Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT. 

No. of questions: 50

Maximum Marks: 150

Candidates who are opting for Ground Duty - Technical Branch have to pass both AFCAT & EKT.

Stage 2:

This includes sending call letters to all the candidates who clear the AFCAT/EKT to appear for the AFSB Testing. This is further conducted in two stages.

Testing Stage 1 (Screening) includes:

1) Officer Intelligence Rating Test

2) Picture Perception & Description Test

Testing Stage 2 includes:

1) Psychological Tests

2) Group Tests

3) Interview

Computerized Pilot Selection System: This test is mandatory for only those candidates who have applied for Flying Branch.

Medical Examination:-

Recommended candidates in AFSB will be called for medical examination. After the medical examination, a final merit list would be prepared on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in written and AFSB interviews.
